MP3 Player Requirements
I have been a long-time user of iPhones and iPods, I am also a lifelong Microsoft Windows user. I like to have a separate music player rather than use my iPhone so when Apple stopped producing the iPod music players, I needed to start looking for a replacement player in case my iPod Nano 7th Gen ever bit the dust.
My requirements for a new music player include the following:
- Must play both mp3 and m4a media
- Must play podcasts
- Good sound quality
- Should be easy to sync with my music collection
- Good battery life
- Not too expensive
- Needs more the 128GB of storage
Unfortuantly, I was not able to find a perfect match, a lot of the cheap mp3 players fail to play m4a media and the storage was small and not upgradeable. They also do not all get good sound quality reviews.
Fiio M3 Pro
The best quality players meet more of the requirements, but they were expensive. So, after some searching, I opted for the Fiio M3 Pro for $116, £83, €96. This does not come with storage or headphones. I already have a pair of Sennheiser CX 300 II Precision Noise Isolating Ear Canal Phones so I just needed to purchase a SanDisk Ultra 200GB microSDXC Memory Card for $46 £33 €38
