Questions

How do I calculate percentage change?

(new − old) ÷ old × 100. A coin going from $40,000 to $60,000 is up 50%.

Why does a 50% loss need a 100% gain?

Because the gain is measured from the smaller amount. $100 falling 50% leaves $50, and $50 must double (rise 100%) to get back to $100.
